Model enthusiasts from all over the world will be heading for Telford to discover the latest developments in the world of miniatures.

The International Plastic Modellers' Society (UK) is holding its annual Scale ModelWorld event at The International Centre, Telford, on November 13 and 14. Organisers say the event is the largest of its kind in the world, and it has been held at the Telford venue for the past 13 years.

President Paul Regan said: "Our event will take up all the exhibition halls and there will be 120 trade exhibitors and 130 club displays.

"We always look forward to coming to Telford as there is great support here and we're hoping to attract around 9,000 visitors over the two days."

This year's theme is the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, and visitors will get the chance to see a full-size replica of a Spitfire Fighter plane and even sit inside it. There will also be scale models of aeroplanes, cars, ships, science fiction characters and military figures.

Diane Austin, Operations Director at The International Centre, said: "Scale ModelWorld is always an incredibly popular event and we're very pleased to be welcoming the modellers back again this year.

"It really is an enormous exhibition which fills all our halls, and it's great to see so many visitors and enthusiasts on site during the weekend."

International Plastic Modellers' Society (UK) was founded in 1963, and was originally known as the British Plastic Modellers' Society, but was soon expanded into an international organisation.

Society members build anything from basic kits to complicated scratch built models using plastic as their primary material, and there are over 60 local IPMS branches across the UK.
